Edward Benjamin Hoskin

Edward was born in Modbury in 1891, the son of William and Mary Hoskin. He attended Modbury School from Nov 1895 -Apr 1898.  He married Annie Addessi Addams at St Mary’s, Torquay on 8 Apr 17 and lived at Church View, Kilkhampton, Halworthy,Devon. They had one daughter Kathleen Mary born 25 Aug 1913.

Edward enlisted into the Army at Bude and served as a Private in the ASC – MT Depot. Inititially at the Inns of Court Officer Training Corp and the  MT Depot, RASC, he participated i nthe Mesopotamia campaign that defeated the trkish army in Baghdad.

He died on active service in Mesopotamia on 17th May 1917 aged 25, one month after getting married. He is buried in Baghdad(North Gate) War Cemetry – Plot 15, Row K.
